Introduction

December 9th, 2008

This blog is a tool for assisting with the task of learning CSS and how to design a website. However, before we get started with the learning process I'd like to explain a bit about myself and why I'm creating this blog.

My name is Michael Patterson and I am currently working on a degree in computer engineering. I would like to learn how to create a professional looking website, so I decided to try and learn CSS and maybe pick up some more HTML along the way. I've realized over the years that the best way to learn something yourself, is to teach others about it. If you are able to teach other people to the point that they understand a concept, then you must surely understand the concept yourself. To this end I have created this blog. I hope that by teaching you, the reader, about CSS and web design, that I will gain an excellent understanding of this material myself.
Note: I realize that it's possible and even likely that no one will really use these lessons, but I'm very confident that by taking the time to make them I will remember the material that they cover.

Finally, I'd like to point out that at this point I know almost nothing about CSS and very little about HTML. I will be creating these lessons as I learn the material myself, so hopefully these will be good lessons for beginners, since they will be written by one. Also, with that being said, please point out any mistakes or misunderstandings that you find in these articles. I'm going to be learning from many resources I found online through a simple google search.

Alright, without any further ado, let's dive in and start learning.

Thanks for reading,
Michael
